At the heart of Journey Bakery Nigel is a legacy of love, family, and baking that spans generations.
It all began with Tiekie Venter, our beloved Ouma, who was truly the queen of the kitchen. With her warm smile and gentle hands, she could transform the simplest ingredients into something extraordinary. Baking was never just about food for Ouma Tiekie — it was about bringing people together, creating memories, and sharing love through every recipe.
Her daughter, Paula van Aarde, our mom, grew up in that kitchen, learning every recipe, every little trick, and the passion behind each cake, biscuit, and homemade treat. Paula carried that legacy forward, adding her own special touch to the treasured family recipes she inherited.
Mom’s kitchen quickly became a place where everyone felt welcome — a space filled with laughter, conversation, tea, and freshly baked treats. Family gathered, friends dropped in, and no one ever left hungry.
Today, that same spirit lives on at Journey Bakery Nigel. Every product we make carries the warmth, care, and tradition passed down from Ouma Tiekie to Mom Paula, and now to us.
We are proud to continue their legacy — baking with love and sharing a little sweetness with our community, one treat at a time.
